Hello, I am David W. Koni, founder of
the Silver Fern Mortgage Group. I have many years experience in
business and finance.
I attained an
Auckland University commerce degree and membership of NZICA in the
early 70s and began work for a Taumarunui CA. From there I worked in Brisbane, Australia
for 4 years after which I went to Toronto, Canada and worked in
most Eastern Provinces for Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co, for another 4 years.
I returned to NZ in 1980
and began a finance career with NZI
Finance. In 1989 I began work for Dorchester & Smythe and established Dorchester Pacific, listed on the NZX. I worked
for Dorchester until 2004 as General Manager, Finance. I have
managed the Silver Fern Mortgage Group since then.
I enjoy music and
theatre, and as a provincial New Zealander was active in sport. I
was an athlete with the Waikato team and played rugby
for Taumarunui Athletic, King Country, at the time of the
legendary Colin Meads
and NZ Maori. Growing up in the
Central Plateau I frequently
skied Mt Ruapehu as I still do, only now I snowboard
after being converted by my son, who is currently a personal
trainer. I also have 3 grown girls. I play tennis, golf, run and attend
a gym.
